NEW DELHI: The accused in the case of spreading deep fake video of actress Rashmika Mandana on social media has been arrested. A native of Andhra Pradesh was arrested in the incident. The New Delhi Police had registered a case on November 10 after the star's deep fake video went viral on social media.

The video was circulated by morphing Rashmika's face into a video of another woman wearing a black dress and getting into an elevator. Rashmika's deepfake video was created using a video by Sara Patel, a British-Indian social media influencer. After this video went viral, similar cases were reported again.

It was found that fake videos and pictures of Bollywood actresses like Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani, Kajol, Deepika Padukone and others were made. After the incident was caught, the user deleted his account.

After Rashmika's video went viral, deep fake became a big topic in India. Many people, including Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, came forward that day to support the actress and demand action on the deep fake video. Union IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar had also warned social media companies about deep fakes.
