THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a Facebook post, CPI(M) leader M Swaraj has condemned the BJP's move to inaugurate the Ram Temple, linking it to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Swaraj accuses the BJP of reducing Lord Rama, once revered as God, to a mere election campaign tool.

In the Facebook post, Swaraj states, "Kidnapped God! Lord Rama of the believers was abducted. Godse, who took the life of the father of the nation, abducted Rama also. Sri Rama, who was God yesterday has been turned into today's election campaign issue."

The criticism comes as the consecration of the Ramlalla idol at the Ram Temple is scheduled between 12.20 pm and 12.45 pm today. Notable attendees include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, U.P Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, and Temple Trust President Nritya Gopal Das. The head priest, Laxmikant Dikshit of Varanasi, will preside over the ceremony with 14 couples from various regions serving as 'Mukhya Yajaman.'
