THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man and his mother have been arrested in connection with the suicide of his wife in Thiruvallam. Shehana (23) of Varuvila Puthen Veedu Shehna Manzil on Christ Nagar Road in Vandithadam, committed suicide on December 26.

Her family had alleged that she took the extreme step due to the harassment of her husband Noufal and mother-in-law Sunitha. After Shehana's suicide, Noufal and Sunitha went into hiding.

Shehana and Noufal got married in 2020. Shehana had been staying at her home for the past three months due to problems at her husband's house. Her husband Noufal had asked her to attend a private function at his house on December 26. However, Shehana was not ready to go. Noufal then came home and forcibly took their one-and-a-half-month-old baby home. After this, Shahana entered the room and closed the door. She was later found dead.
