COIMBATORE: A father from Thrissur came in search of a four-month-old baby whose mother left behind in a bus following a family quarrel. The incident took place in Coimbatore. The position of the Child Welfare Department is that the child can be handed over if the mother and father come together.

Last Friday, the woman from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu left the baby in the bus. After boarding a crowded private bus, the woman asked another woman to hold the baby.

On reaching Coimbatore, the bus staff informed the police after the woman expressed her suspicion that the woman had drowned after handing the child to her. The police then took the child to the hospital and from there he was sent to the custody of the Child Protection Department.

The child's father came to the station knowing about the child through social media. The native of Thrissur and the young woman fell in love and got married. Relatives were against love. After marriage they were living in Coimbatore.

The man had gone back to Thrissur after a recent fight. It is reported that the woman abandoned the baby due to this.
