KASARAGOD: Nileswaram Police have filed a charge sheet against former SFI leader K Vidya in the Hosdurg court for forging a fake identity certificate to secure a teaching position at Karinthalam Govt College.

K Vidya, a resident of Thrikkarippur Maniyanodi is facing charges of forgery, submission of fraudulent documents and destruction of evidence. Vidya claimed to the police that the fake certificate was created using a phone which malfunctioned and was left behind.

The charges state that Vidya while working at Karinthalam Govt College, presented a counterfeit work experience certificate in the name of Maharaja's College for one year. This fake certificate allowed Vidya to receive a government salary. Vidya was arrested on June 27 in connection with this case.

The delay in filing the charge sheet was attributed to obtaining certified copies of scientific evidence from the Mannarkkad court where the investigation had concluded earlier.

Earlier findings revealed that Vidya earned Rs 2,78,250 during her one-year tenure at Karinthala College. The investigation highlighted that Vidya forged the document to outpace senior candidate K Rajitha who had secured the appointment based on her work experience at Uduma Government College.

To secure a position at Karinthalam College, Vidya submitted a fake certificate after losing the initial appointment to K Rajitha. The suspicions arose when the Principal questioned the authenticity of Vidya's work experience certificate while attempting to secure a job at Attapadi College.
