MANANTHAVADY: A bear entered a human settlement here causing panic among the locals. The wild animal entered the pantry of St. Sebastian's Church in Kommayadu and ate sugar and coconut oil kept there.

The incident happened last night. The church authorities came to know about it on Tuesday morning. The bruin then reached Tharuvana, Karingari, Kunnummal Angadi, and Paliyana. The forest officials are inspecting the area. The animal also entered the kitchen of a house in Pichangode. It then wrecked the kitchen of Govt LP School in Pichangode.

The bear was spotted Valliyoorkkavu and Thonichal areas in Mananthavady. It also broke into Rajeev's house on Quarry Road around 11 pm and tried to gobble up coconut oil. On hearing noises, the family residing there checked the kitchen and found the animal. They screamed on seeing the bear and it left the place.
