KOCHI: In an affidavit submitted by the university, it was stated that the Governor, who is also the chancellor, ignored the list given by the registrar to the Senate, to nominate ineligible student representatives.

According to the affidavit of registrar Dr KS Anilkumar, the chancellor omitted rank holders and students who excelled in cultural events to favour other students who were in ABVP.

ABVP activists S.L. Dhruv (Science), Malvika Udayan (Fine Arts), Abhishek D. Nair (Humanities) and Sudhi Sudhan (Sports) were nominated by the Chancellor. The court is considering the petition filed by four students who were earlier included in the university’s list. The court has stayed the further proceedings in the matter.

The university's list includes BA music topper Arunima Ashok, university artist Nandakishore, all-India bronze medalist in tug of war competition PS Avant Sen and BSc topper TS Kavya.

Malvika Udayan boasts about her merit after participating in Vanchippattu, Kerala Nadanam and mime competitions in the university youth festival. The reports of the University's Director of Physical Education, Director of Student Services and Heads of Colleges where the students are studying have also been submitted.

It was also pointed out in the affidavit that SL Dhruv had grade C in the first semester examination.
