KOLLAM: Despite strong evidence emerging that the Assistant Public Prosecutor of the Paravur Munsif Magistrate's Court committed suicide due to brutal mental torture by her colleague and superior, the police are remaining silent. The accused have not yet been charged with abetment of suicide. At present, the case is only for unnatural death.

S Aneeshya's voicemails to her colleagues continuously state that a superior and a colleague constantly harassed her mentally. These matters are also detailed in the diary, yet the police are of the position that they have not found any evidence that can be charged with inciting suicide. The police are not yet ready to take the statements of the next of kin. A team led by Paravoor CI A Nisar investigating the case seized Aneeshya's mobile phone, including voice messages, yesterday. Apart from her friends, Aneeshya had also sent a voice message from the phone to the Paravur Magistrate about the mental torture she had to face.

Lawyers boycotted the court

Kollam Bar lawyers staged a protest yesterday by boycotting the court proceedings, demanding action against the judicial officers who pushed Aneeshya to commit suicide and expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation announced by the Director General of Prosecution. The Kollam Bar Association has also announced a boycott strike against the accused. The two accused officers did not turn up at their offices yesterday.

'I can't stand the things of those days'

In the 19-page suicide note in Aneeshya's diary, she says that she could not bear what happened in the meeting convened by the Kollam Deputy Director of Prosecution this month. According to the note, besides reading her confidential report in public, she was ridiculed by a large section of those present in the meeting.

Petition to the Chief Minister

The Kollam Bar Association has submitted a petition to the Chief Minister demanding an inquiry into S Aneeshya's death by a sitting judge or a retired judge of the High Court. The petition has also requested that the Paravur police should be instructed to charge the charge of abetment to suicide in the case. The association submitted a petition to the Director General of Prosecution demanding departmental action to be taken against the accused Kollam Deputy Director of Prosecution and Paravur JFMC Court Assistant Public Prosecutor.

'The Director General of Prosecution's instruction to investigate the suicide and submit a report was received in writing yesterday. The investigation will begin today."
