NEW DELHI: Nation recognized the extraordinary bravery of six individuals with the prestigious Kirti Chakra. Major Digvijay Singh Rawat, Major Dipendra Vikram Basnet, Havildar Pawan Kumar Yadav, Captain Anshuman Singh (posthumously), Havildar Abdul Majeed (posthumously) and Sepoy Pawan Kumar have been lauded for their outstanding courage in various operations.
Major Digvijay Singh earned acclaim for his anti-terrorist efforts in Manipur while Major Dipendra and Havildar Pawan Kumar Yadav demonstrated valor in Kupwara, Kashmir. Captain Anshuman Singh lost his life during the Meghdoot operation and Havildar Abdul Majeed along with Sepoy Pawan Kumar made the ultimate sacrifice in the anti-terrorist fight in Jammu and Kashmir.
Other noteworthy recognitions include the Shaurya Chakra, 53 Sena Medals and Param Vishishta Seva Medal awarded to 31 individuals with three posthumous honors.
