POTHANCODE: A collision between a KSRTC bus and a tempo yesterday at 5:40 pm resulted in injuries to 10 people. The KSRTC bus, en route from Thiruvananthapuram to Aluva, collided with a tempo traveling from Vembayam to Vattappara.

Anish, a resident of Vembayam trapped in the accident was rescued by locals and the fire force. He sustained serious injuries and is now admitted to Medical College Hospital.

Among the injured in the tempo van, Rajamma (55) from Kottayam, Santosh (47), Arjun (34), Nirmal (35) from Vattapara, Sundaran Pillai (65) and Ramya (35) from Vetinad sought treatment at Medical College Hospital. Witnesses report the KSRTC bus losing control and colliding with the oncoming tempo van.

The bus driver attributes the accident to a loss of control, explaining that he was distracted when a passenger suddenly fell inside the bus. The front of the tempo van suffered extensive damage. Local residents and Vattapara police promptly responded, conducting rescue operations at the accident site.
