‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ was released on Thursday amidst bid anticipation from fans, and now the Mohanlal movie is slowly drawing in positive criticism from audiences albeit an early shoddy theatre response from fans.

The movie is released in a record number of centres in Kerala and across India. However, the distributors of the movie faced unprecedented trouble while screening the movie in Canada. Almost 8000 people who bought tickets to watch the movie in Canada had to return dejected after the local law enforcement denied the screening.

8000 tickets were sold on the opening day of the movie, and it was one of the biggest collection numbers ever produced for a Malayalam movie overseas. According to distributor KW Talkies, some cartels working in this region got irked by the record sales and threatened the theatre to cancel shows. The theatre owners succumbed to the threat and cancelled all shows of ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ ergo giving headache to distributors and dismay for fans of actor Mohanlal.

Meanwhile, Aashirvad Cinemas extended their support to KW talkies and said that they will cooperate with any investigation from Canadian authorities.

“Our goal is to ensure a theatric experience for every moviegoer” tweeted Aashirvad.

The details about the cartel and their link with India are yet to be known. It is doubted that there is also involvement of certain Malayalis’ in the issue.
