THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Within just hours after the controversial Nilamel protest on Saturday, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was again received with black flags by SFI members in Thiruvananthapuram. The protest happened near the government guest house in Thycaud. Police have now arrested and moved away the protestors.
The SFI workers came with sambaram(Kerala-style spicy buttermilk), as a dig at the governor for his earlier wayside protest in Kollam. Some SFI workers mentioned that they will hand over the Sambaram to Governor to help refresh him from the tedious morning journey to Kollam.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has provided Z+ CRPF security to Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. The decision comes in the wake of repeated security breaches and protests in the Governor's itinerary. On Saturday, Governor confronted SFI workers in Nilamel after the workers hit his vehicle while police looked helpless.
The governor was on his way to attend a function in Sadanandapuram, Kottarakkara when the incident happened. Akin to the Thiruvananthapuram incident back in November, the Governor came out from his vehicle on Saturday and confronted the SFI workers. Governor then alleged the police of purposefully providing space for SFI workers to interrupt his travel.
