THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: "It was my daughter's wedding. I'll come and see Nikhil once the rush is over". Nikhil's mother Sheeba couldn't believe when she heard actor Suresh Gopi's voice over phone. Kerala Kaumudi had reported about Nikhil, a Plus 2 student of St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, who looks after his 16-year-old brother Appu, who has autism, and his mother, Sheeba, who has Parkinson's. Many celebrities called the family after seeing the news. Nikhil was at school when Suresh Gopi called him. Nikhil is sad that he wasn't able to talk, but he is happy that he will be able to meet his beloved star soon.
Last Thursday, the school management also honoured Nikhil. Dr Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan blessed Nikhil at a function held in the board room of Marthoma Church Educational Society. He said that at a time when children are enslaved by social media, children like Nikhil are role models for the society and that face is full of hope even when he is struggling with life. He came all the way from Thiruvalla just to meet Nikhil and offered all help for further studies. He also gave him a laptop. Nikhil lives on rent in Kesavadasapuram. Therefore, he suggested that they should be included in the Church's housing scheme. Marthoma Church Educational Society Secretary Mathew George, Treasurer Cherian Varghese and Principal Dr. Lisu Varghese participated.
