IDUKKI: The CPM will clear the debts of the family of six-year-old girl raped and murdered in Vandiperiyar. The decision is that of Idukki District Committee. The girl’s family had received a bank notice asking them to repay the arrears of the loan amount of Rs 7 lakh taken after mortgaging the land and house. Following this, the CPM district committee intervened.

The family took the loan in 2019 after pledging their land of 14 cents. They took a loan of Rs 5 lakh from Peerumedu Taluk Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank. They took the loan for the marriage of the victim’s mother’s niece, whose parents died. Following the death of the victim, the debt rose to Rs 7,39,000 after failure of repayment. The Idukki District Committee will give this amount to the child's family. CPM state secretary M V Govindan will visit her house on January 31 and hand over the amount.

The construction of the girl’s house was also suspended. They need around Rs 4 lakh to complete the house. The CPM have also decided to provide necessary assistance for this. Along with this, the remaining work of the house have been resumed under the leadership of Peerumedu Area Committee.
