PATNA: Nine-time Chief Minister of Bihar, six times with the BJP alliance and three times with the RJD alliance. No matter which route Nitish Kumar takes in politics, he will turn the wheel of Bihar's governance. This is the third government to come to power in Bihar after the general elections in 2020. After ruling the state with the BJP for the first two years, he switched to the Mahagathbandhan alliance. After 18 months there, he returned to the NDA alliance.
Nitish Kumar has now clarified why he left the Mahagathbandhan and went back to the NDA alliance after a gap of 18 months without standing firmly in one place.
"I have not been commenting about anything for long now because things were not right (in the Mahagathbandhan alliance). I was getting opinions and suggestions from everyone, including my party workers. I listened to all of them and resigned today, and ended the current government", Nitish said.
"I resigned the post of CM and has recommended the governor to dissolve the government in the state. This is because things are not right", Nitish told the reporters after submitting his resignation to the governor.
A meeting of JDU MLAs was held this morning. After the meeting, Nitish Kumar visited Governor Rajendra Arlekar at Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation at 11 am. The JD(U) has ended its 18-month association with the Mahagathbandhan of Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Congress.

With JD(U) leaving, RJD, Congress and left parties have 114 seats altogether. This is 8 seats short of absolute majority.
