THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Debate on the ‘motion of thanks’ from the governor's policy announcement will begin today in the assembly. Former minister E Chandrasekaran will present the vote of thanks while the ruling party look all set to take the Governor to task for his livid approach towards the government.

On the other hand, the opposition will open tirades against the government for the Governor's policy address that lasted just 84 seconds. The opposition has decided to bring an emergency resolution today, raising issues including suicides due to the cessation of welfare pensions. P C Vishnunath will present the resolution as the UDF parliamentary party meeting will take place on Monday morning.

The opposition will highlight the staggering hypocrisy of the government, as they will point out how the government carefully omitted the dreadful financial state or the continuous intrusion of central agencies in the policy address while getting ready to stage a protest against the central government in New Delhi.

The LDF Parliamentary Party meeting earlier decided to ignore the Governor's action. Minister P Rajeev asked party members to refrain from further attacking the Governor on the policy address.

However, the situation turned topsy-turvy after the Nilamel incident, when the Governor got down from his vehicle to confront some 20-member strong SFI cadres in the middle of the road. The governor's wayside protest also bruised the LDF government as they then changed minds and decided to settle the score with the Governor himself.
