NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old boy has been arrested for attacking a minor girl by pouring acid on her face. The incident took place in the Burari area of Delhi. The girl suffered serious injuries on her face and neck and is undergoing treatment.
The girl was attacked on the 24th of this month. The attack took place in the afternoon when she was going to pick up her relative's 10-year-old child from the school near Shastri Park in the area. The girl's eyes, neck and nose were burning and itching. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and given treatment.
After the investigation, it was found that no one had personal enmity with the girl. Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Meena told the media that there was no CCTV camera at the place where the incident took place. Then, when the CCTV footage was checked a kilometre away, the footage of a boy running was noticed. The boy was wearing a tracksuit, sports shoes and a bag. A white handkerchief was tied around the face like a mask. Then the accused was found with the help of nearby residents.
During interrogation, the 16-year-old confessed to the crime. It was also revealed that the accused started attacking other girls because of a quarrel with his girlfriend. The boy also admitted that he searches and attacks girls because he does not like them. The police also recovered the caustic powder solution, a small bottle, clothes, bag and handkerchief used in the attack.
A case has been registered against the accused under sections 326 (b) and 341 of the IPC. The accused was found after several days of search.
