THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Relatives of Moses Bibin are equally scared of his antics much like the locals. Moses Bibin was recently arrested for tying up and immolating his mother to death. The locals loathe his behaviour and have termed him as a troublemaker. The family had earlier filed a complaint with the police when Moses tried to vandalize the grave of his father, who died two years ago.

After serving a jail term for a molestation case, Moses travelled to Parippally in Kollam to work as a tapper. Relatives admit to taking Moses to a mental health care centre previously for his bizarre actions. It was common for Moses to break things at home and create a fear-filled atmosphere whenever he felt livid.

Moses Bibin used to break the iron rods from the windows and sell them in scrap shops for a modest payment. He would splash this money to indulge in drinking alcohol. He would later return home in a rage and beat up his mother, says relatives. Whenever the locals or neighbours came to question this, Moses would hurl expletives at them.

According to the police, Moses Bibin had a definite plan to kill his mother Nalini. The old mother was tied to the ground and firewood kept on her body which he later set on fire. In the morning, a neighbour noticed the smoke coming from the house but cared less.

Jain, another son of Nalini, when arrived at the house the next morning found the charred body. Moses presented the murder to be an accident, as he said the fire to have emanated while Nalini carelessly cooked porridge in the kitchen.
