THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An understanding has been reached to hand over Governor Arif Mohammed Khan's security responsibilities to the CRPF. From now on, the Governor's car will always be escorted by CRPF vehicles both in front and behind. The decision was taken at the security review meeting held today. A police pilot vehicle and a local police vehicle will also be there in the convoy.
At present, the commando wing of the Kerala Police provides escort to the Governor's vehicle. The central forces will provide escort to the Governor as the Union Home Ministry decided to provide him with Z plus category security. Meanwhile, the police will be in charge of deciding the route of the Governor and arresting and removing the protesters.
While the police will guard the front gate of the Raj Bhavan, CRPF will provide security inside. Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner and CRPF officials will hold talks again tomorrow. The government will then issue an order disclosing details on the Governor's security.
