THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM leader Kadakampally Surendran ridiculed the opposition in his reply to the urgent motion presented in the assembly. Kadakampally's reply to the urgent motion moved by Roji M John was to respect the opposition which was ready to criticize the central government at least for the sake of the scene.
The opposition's urgent motion criticizing the Centre at least for the sake of the scene should be framed and maintained. Kadakampally quipped that everyone should be ready to stand up and respect the opposition. The opposition criticized the state government's mismanagement and wastefulness as the main cause of the financial crisis.
In his reply, Kadakampally said that it was the central government's policy that had put the state in financial trouble. In his speech, Kadakampally also spoke about the revelations of the former Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office that Modi is trying to reduce the tax money due to the states.
After two-and-a-half hours of discussion, the opposition left the assembly, alleging that the answer given by the government was not satisfactory. After this, the Speaker informed the assembly that the resolution was rejected and the assembly adjourned for the day. The opposition alleged that there was no tax reform after the introduction of GST and Kerala has become a paradise for tax evaders.
The reactions of the opposition MLAs criticized the state as the main culprit of the crisis even though the central policy was also a cause. However, in the letter sent to the Centre, the government says that it is yet to receive 32000 crores. The former Finance Minister also said in the assembly that the Centre has withheld 5132 crores.
Satheesan joked that there is no money to even build drains. The extravaganza accusation of the opposition was quoting the Nava Kerala Sadas, Keraleeyam and the renovation of the Cliff House.
