KOCHI: The High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Jolly Joseph, accused in the Koodathayi cyanide killings. Justice CS Dias rejected the bail plea in the murder case of Mathew Manchadi and Sily Shaju.

Jolly’s defence argued in the court about the prosecution's failure to not submit scientific evidence from the Hyderabad Forensic Lab and thus strongly voiced the need for bail.

However, the prosecution retorted by warning the court about the chances of the accused influencing the witnesses since most were her relatives and locals. The court order cited the possibility of influencing the witness as a reason for denying bail.

However not just that, as the bail was also denied taking into consideration Jolly’s earlier attempt to commit suicide while being in judicial custody and the crucial intelligence report that revealed the possibility of the accused getting murdered if she came out from jail.

Jolly Joseph was arrested from Koodathayi in Kozhikode district in 2019 in the case of murdering six members of the family, including her husband.
