THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On Tuesday, CPM MLA H Salam was forced to withdraw his question given to the assembly secretary regarding the irregularities in the cooperative sector, after facing wrath from the CM’s office.
H Salam in his question enquired about the cooperative societies and institutions that were found to be irregular during the inspection, which political party is leading the governing body and the district-wise list of the irregularities found.
The question which was submitted by the MLA just 10 days ago was published on the assembly website in the list of unstarred questions. The cooperative department had even prepared an answer but the danger was realized when the file was made available to Minister V N Vasavan.
The question was feared to bring out the irregularities in the Karuvannur and Kandala scam and thus the issue was brought to the attention of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The CMO immediately asked the MLA to take back his question.
The MLA requested online to withdraw the question and the assembly secretary acted accordingly, removing it from the website but was included in the printed question booklet.
