WADAKKANCHERRY: Congress workers clashed in Wadakkancherry on Mahatma Gandhi Martyrdom Day. Activists threw away Gandhiji's portrait, a lamp and a poster of KPCC's Samaragni' yatra. The chairs were smashed. Block Congress President PJ Jayadeep and Municipal Councilor and Mahila Congress Vice President Bushara Rasheed were admitted to the district hospital.
The incident took place at the KS Narayanan Namboothiri Memorial building yesterday morning. A group of activists came forward with the demand that the Gandhi commemoration ceremony should start early, and verbal arguments and physical confrontation ensued. The clash was between Block Congress President PJ Jayadeep and his team and Constituency President Biju Ismail. Meanwhile, some people came to the party office with deadly weapons. A large number of people, including the block president, had stayed away from the function where Biju Ismail took charge as the constituency president. The problems in the party were acute with the appointment of PG Jayadeep as the Block Congress President.
There is also a situation where a section of workers are not entering the party block congress office. It is said that parallel work of Congress is also going on in another building. At the same time, it is said that the DCC leadership was unable to solve the problems in the party, which led to the physical confrontation.
