ALAPPUZHA: All 14 accused in the Adv Ranjith Srinivasan murder case have been sentenced to death. This decision stands out in Kerala's judicial history, marking a stern warning to criminals and serving as a legal guide for aspiring law students.

The court emphasized its role as the guardian of the rule of law and a pillar of democracy in the Ranjith Srinivasan case. Describing the incident as "rare among the rare," where an armed gang stormed an unarmed man's home, the court stressed the need for effective judicial duties.

This landmark ruling echoes similar cases, such as the Jayakrishnan Master murder and T.P. Chandrasekaran's murder, where life sentences were the maximum penalty. The Ranjith Srinivasan case, with its death penalties, reinforces the gravity of such heinous acts.

In a parallel reference, the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blasts case saw the highest number of death sentences in India, with 38 individuals condemned. Additionally, the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case led to 26 death sentences by a TADA court. In 2010, 16 individuals received death sentences in a gang-rape case in Bihar, while seven were sentenced to death in the Ujjain blast case.
