THRISSUR: The CPI has decided to take action against Thrissur MLA P Balachandran over his controversial post on the Ramayana. The District Council of the party has decided to publically rebuke the MLA over the post. P Balachandran had found himself in a controversy after he shared a Facebook post related to Ramayana characters. Later, the MLA expressed regret by withdrawing the post.
The District Council believes that although the MLA expressed regret over the post, such kind of action is not acceptable from a person holding a responsible position. The party assessed that the MLA had committed a major breach of discipline that did not align with the party's position. Following this, the district council decided to take action against P Balachandran. Earlier, Revenue Minister K Rajan had also criticized the MLA's action.
State executive members KP Rajendran, CN Jayadevan and District Secretary KK Valsaraj were present at the meeting presided over by VS Prince.
