THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Biju Prabhakar’s request to be moved from the KSRTC MD position was finally accepted in principle by the government on Wednesday. Biju Prabhakar earlier sent a request to Minister K B Ganesh Kumar and Chief Secretary V Venu regarding the matter.
Joint MD Pramoj Shankar will be in charge until a new chief is appointed. Biju Prabhakar decided to step down from the position after having developed differences with minister K B Ganesh Kumar.
Although the transport minister informed the matter to the CMO, the issue was kept out of discussion from Wednesday’s cabinet meeting. Biju Prabhakar, who is also the Transport Secretary, is likely to remain in the post till the Lok Sabha elections. Biju is also the CMD of KTDFC.
Biju Prabhakar was unhappy with newly sworn-in minister Ganesh Kumar’s remark calling all reforms taken in the last two years within KSRTC as futile. Minister Ganesh strongly criticised the e-bus introduction and even went ahead with steps to stop the bus from functioning again.
However, the minister was taken aback when a report from KSRTC praised the e-bus introduction and termed the project successful in bringing profits to the department. This irked the minister who then implicitly made comments reproving the MD and also tried to overhaul the department by changing the MD first. Kerala Kaumudi had reported this on the 29th of January.
