NEW DELHI: The annual audit report of Congress states that the party has spent Rs 71.8 crores on Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Bharat Jodo Yatra was from Kanyakumari to Kashmir between September 2022 and January 2023.
This accounted for 15.3 percent of Congress's total annual expenditure and 30 percent of administrative and general expenditures for 2022-23. Congress' total income for 2022-23 has come down to Rs 452 crore from Rs 541 crore in 2021-22. At the same time, the total expenditure increased from Rs 400 crore to Rs 467 crore.
The contribution received through electoral bonds during 2022-23 is Rs 171 crore. But in 2021-22, it was Rs 236 crore. 171 crore which is 38 percent of the total revenue. Rs 192.5 crores was spent by the Congress during the election period 2022-23. It was Rs 279.5 crore in the previous year. Congress' administrative and general spending increased by 161 percent over 2021-22. The amount spent on election surveys increased from Rs 23 lakh in 2021-22 to Rs 40 crore in 2022-23.
Of the party's total income of Rs 452 crore, Rs 43.2 crore came from donations from individuals (in 2021-22, it was Rs 60.2 crore). In 2022-23, the amount received from various companies was Rs 53.9 crore. It was Rs 28.8 crore in the previous period. Meanwhile, the party did not disclose the amount received from various trusts and organizations. The party received Rs 125.7 crore from the sale of coupons and publications and Rs 42.4 crore from fees and subscriptions.
Apart from Congress, the annual audit report of parties like AAP, BSP, CPM and NPP has also been released. But BJP has not released the report.
