NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the interim budget ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. This is Nirmala Sitharaman's sixth budget. She started the budget presentation by enumerating the achievements of the Modi government in the last ten years and the projects to be implemented in the next five years.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna-Gramin scheme continued despite Covid challenges. PMAY is close to achieving the target of three crore houses. Two crore more houses will be provided in the next five years
Up to 300 units of free electricity per month to one crore families through the rooftop solar project.
ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers will be included in the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The government plans to set up more medical colleges utilizing the infrastructure of existing hospitals. A committee will be constituted for this purpose to look into the issues and make relevant recommendations.
In July's budget, the government will present a detailed roadmap for pursuing a developed Bharat.
Three major railway economic corridor projects will be implemented.
Tax rates including import duty will remain unchanged.
The government will fund cervical cancer vaccination. Girls between the ages of 9 and 14 will benefit from this for the next five years.
A special plan will be formulated to give importance to railway safety. 40,000 coaches will be upgraded to Vande Bharat standard.
