KOCHI: A policeman suffered an injury in an attack by a mentally challenged migrant worker in Aluva. Aluva Police Station CPO Rajesh's ear was seriously injured. The police reached the spot after the locals informed them that the migrant worker, a native of Bengal, turned violent.

The migrant worker acted violently and pelted stones at the Periyar Apartments flat near the water treatment plant and cars parked nearby. He ran violently towards the police who reached the spot.

He attacked CPO Rajesh with a stone in his hand when Rajesh and other policemen tried to apprehend him. The policeman, who sustained a serious injury in his ear, was given preliminary treatment at Aluva Government Hospital. He was later shifted to Rajagiri Hospital for specialist treatment.
