KOZHIKODE: The police will now reward any person who save the life of a road accident victim. The Kozhikode City Police has started the 'Good Samaritan Award' project in collaboration with the Lions Club with the aim of saving the lives of accident victims.

After taking the accident victim to the hospital, send a message to WhatsApp number 8590965259 with their photo, description of the accident victim and the person who reached them, then will get a reward of Rs 500 online.

The city police have come up with such a plan as the situation is that people often move away fearing legal entanglements even if they see the accident victims. Initially, the project is being implemented in Kozhikode city. It will be later 8 extended to other regions.

This is the first time such a project is being implemented in the state. To prevent misuse of the scheme, authentic information will be collected from the hospital through digital systems. Announcing the plan, City Police Commissioner Rajpal Meena said the accident victims do not reach the hospital within the critical time, so they die, become bedridden or disabled.

Many people are not willing to take the accident victims to the hospital, even if they are interested in taking pictures and capturing the scenes of the accident. Many objections are raised and avoided. In order to avoid this situation, it was decided to introduce the incentive award. He said there will be no legal entanglements for those who take the accident victims to the hospital. Deputy Commissioner of Police Anuj Paliwal, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) A J Johnson, Lions Club (Calicut East) President Lion T G Balan, Lions District Governor T K Rajish, E. Anirudhan, K Muralrrdharan, K Prem Kumar and KK Selvaraj participated.
