THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Ganesh Kumar took back his statement that electric buses are creating lose to KSRTC. During the question hour, the Minister informed the assembly that more electric buses will be bought to generate revenue.


The launch of electric buses in Thiruvananthapuram had significantly reduced diesal consumption by KSRTC. The minister also agreed that there is a huge shortage in the money spent for spare parts. CPM State secretary rejected Minister's statement.


The Minister also said that plans have been made to increase KSRTC's non-ticket revenue. The schedule was revised to cover the loss. The first effort is to save fuel of Rs 30 lakhs per day. Stay of returning buses at night depots without passengers has started.


The minister was responding to the questions by opposition MLA KPA Majeed, Najeeb Kanthapuram, TV Ibrahim, N. Shamsudeen.
