razak

THRISSUR: In 1981, Razak enrolled at Kerala Varma College, where vibrant writings adorned the walls. Captivated by the atmosphere, he also contributed with the words, 'I followed you without knowing you in the ways you walked.' His record book documented every moment filled by the time of graduation.

The walls, once full of love and revolution were painted over in 2014. However, Razak, a former student from Ayyanthol preserved the memories in a book. Closed with notes from dear friends, the book is now in its fifth edition and is the first book in Malayalam.

Post-graduation, Razak worked with director Fazil eventually becoming a director for commercials and 20 short films. He also worked as a journalist. He still takes photos and videos of new graffiti at Kerala Varma. An upcoming video album is in the works.

Razak is married to Nasira and they have two children Rizwan Russell and Rayhan Razak, both engineers.

The selected writings from the campus walls were published in a book named 'Campus Chuvarile Kalapangal' (Riots on Campus Walls). The book, like hotcakes has gained popularity. A total of 3,000 graffiti was collected.

Let me take back those wet paperboats if you don't want them.

It is not the lessons learned but the insights that made us communists.

Each wall hides a picture inside.
