THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid rumours of his candidature in Lok Sabha polls, Senior CPI leader Pannyan Raveendran said that the candidate discussions have not started and any news coming out now is not a decision and should not be spread. He told the media that he had declared earlier that he is not involved in electoral politics and should spare him.
"The situation in Thiruvananthapuram is favourable for the Left. People there will vote for the left. My name is always heard in elections. So it's not a big deal. I said no to electoral politics. I will convey this to the party. This is not a decision. So don't advertise me as a candidate. I have to request not to harm me," Pannyan Raveendran said.
Meanwhile, the CPI may field former minister VS Sunilkumar against Suresh Gopi in the Thrissur constituency, where the BJP has high hopes. Newcomer CA Arun may also be fielded in Mavelikara. The seat agreement was reached at the CPI national leadership meeting held in Hyderabad. It is reported that the state council will take a final decision on the matter.
