KOCHI: Two members of a group selling intoxicants by car in Ernakulam city have been arrested by the Excise. Amil Chandran (28), a native of Kollam and residing at Parayil Road, Elamakkara, and Abhijith (30), a resident of Kaloor Elamakkara were arrested. The accused were nabbed in a joint operation by the State Excise Enforcement Squad (SEES), Excise Intelligence and Ernakulam Special Squad Party.

7 grams of MDMA in crystal form was recovered from their possession. A car used for drug dealing, two mobile phones and a nano-weighing machine have been seized. The arrested duo are accused in many other criminal cases. Investigation was being conducted on the basis of information about a group that was selling drugs to women and men in Ernakulam town in a car.

Subsequently, the Excise team found that six cars were plying in Ernakulam town as online taxis under the supervision of someone named Amil Chandran. Amil and Abhijit are caught in the detailed investigation based on this. The method of the accused is to drive around in the car, put the drugs in cigarette packets and throw them to the needy while sitting in the car. During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that they were selling drugs at the rate of Rs.3000 to Rs.7000 per gram.
