THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With KPCC president K Sudhakaran confirmed not to contest from the sitting seat Kannur, the Congress may consider the youngsters. Chances of success will prevail over group considerations. The names of KPCC General Secretary K Jayant, Shama Mohamed, Muhammed Blathur and VP Abdul Rasheed are being discussed.
Sudhakaran feels that Jayanth should be nominated as a candidate, but Jayanth being a candidate from outside the constituency may create a problem. Muhammed Blathur is a KPCC member and District Congress Committee Vice President. Youth Congress state general secretary VP Abdul Rasheed, who previously contested for the Assembly from Taliparamba, is also well known among the people. Delhi-based Shama Mohamed may also be considered.
Four names, including Aritha Babu and M Liju, are being considered for LDF's sitting seat Alappuzha. Aritha Babu, the state vice-president of the Youth Congress, contested for the Assembly from Kayamkulam last time but failed to win. Alappuzha former DCC president and political affairs committee member M Liju and KPCC general secretary KP Sreekumar are also in the consideration list. Former MLA and senior leader D Sugathan is also being considered.
