CHICAGO: An Indian student was brutally attacked here on Tuesday. In the videos that went viral on social media regarding an incident in North Campbell in Chicago, Syed Mazahir Ali, a native of Hyderabad, can be seen profusely bleeding.
CCTV footage shows Syed being chased by three assailants near his home in Chicago. Ali is pursuing a Masters in IT from Indiana Weslay University. "While I was about to reach home, 4 men attacked me, They kicked me, punched me and also snatched my phone. Please help me," Ali said in a video pleading for help.
Following the incident, Ali's wife Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi wrote to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asking him to ensure adequate treatment. She also requested the government to allow her to come to the US with her three children and see her husband.

Attacks against Indians have become a regular occurrence in the USA. Four students of Indian origin have been killed in the States this year. A 19-year-old student named Shreyas Reddy Beniger was found dead last week. Another Indian student, Neil Acharya, was found dead inside the campus. Vivek Saini (25), a native of Haryana, was beaten to death on January 16. Another Indian student, Akul Dhawan, was found dead outside the University of Illinois in January.
