KANNUR: CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that through private universities, the government is aiming to reduce the number of students going abroad for studies. He was inaugurating the delegation meeting as part of the KSTA's 33rd state conference.
"The party is not against private capital and has never opposed it. Huge investment is required in the education sector. Privatization is not something new. The party aims at a knowledge economy. A knowledge economy cannot be created by the state alone. India is a capitalist society. Then the government, which is a part of that society, will have to handle it," he said.
"There should be no misapprehension that there is a socialist governance here just because Pinarayi Vijayan is ruling the state. We have no illusions that this government can implement all the slogans put forward by the working class just because the Communist Party is ruling the state. Only the administration changes in five years. Executive and Judiciary remain unchanged," Govindan added.
