NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have arrested a man who brutally sexually assaulted a woman after keeping her captive at his residence. The arrested person has been identified as Paras (28), a cook. Police have rescued the woman from his residence.
According to the police, Paras and the woman got acquainted through the phone and became close. Later, the woman came to Delhi from Bengal to live with him. He then sexually assaulted her for a week. The accused also physically assaulted her.
The woman had more than twenty wounds on her body. After getting rescued from Paras's residence, she was admitted to Delhi AIIMS. The police said that she left the hospital after receiving treatment. Paras had also inflicted burns on the woman by pouring hot dal on her body.
The incident came to light on January 30 when a PCR call informed the Neb Sarai police station in Delhi that a woman was being beaten by her husband. The police said that the woman and Paras became friends over the phone four months ago. In January, the young woman got a job as a maid in a house in Bengaluru. The woman then travelled from Bengal to Bengaluru via Delhi.
The woman told the police that the accused used to beat and sexually assault her frequently. The accused has been charged with rape, sodomy, and causing harm.
