THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Youth tricked his roommate into purchasing a mobile phone worth Rs 35,000 from Amazon. Jithin Baiju, a marketing executive, fell victim to the fraud by Aslam Khan who misused Amazon's pay later system. The Sreekaryam police initiated an investigation following Jithin's complaint.

Jithin, residing as a paying guest with Aslam Khan discovered the deceit when he received a message from Amazon's lending partner, Anzio Finance, suspending the EMI. Aslam Khan, posing as an Indus Bank accounts manager utilized Jithin's mobile to make the purchase without his knowledge.

Aslam Khan further altered the phone number and email associated with Jithin's Amazon account to conceal the fraudulent transaction. Jithin became aware of the scam only after receiving the notification from Anzio Finance.

Following Jithin's revelation on Facebook, three additional victims of Aslam Khan's deception came forward prompting Jithin to file a formal complaint with the Sreekaryam police. After the incident, Aslam escaped by saying that he was going to the hospital due to dengue fever.
