NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the figures of central funds received by Kerala during the Narendra Modi government. The Minister stated in the Rajya Sabha that Kerala has been given a 224% tax share than during the UPA government. The Minister presented the figures of the tax share in the Parliament when the agitation in Delhi led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to protest against central neglect was happening.

During the UPA regime from 2004 to 2014, the tax allocation to Kerala was Rs 46,303 crore. Modi government paid Rs 1,50,140 crore as tax share. During the UPA regime, Kerala received Rs 25,692 crore as grant, but Rs 1,43,117 crore was given as grant in ten years. Nirmala Sitharaman pointed out that the Central Government has not made any change in the recommendation given by the Finance Commission and has not cut the funds.

The minister also presented a white paper in Parliament describing the financial situation during the UPA government. A 56-page white paper comparing the ten years of the UPA-NDA governments was tabled in the Cabinet. There will be a detailed discussion on this in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.
