LUCKNOW: A man who married a police official by deceiving her with his fake UPSC credentials was arrested on Friday. Vijay Singh (22), a native of Gonda in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested. The real identity of the culprit came to light when his wife complained to police about getting beaten up by her husband daily. Following the complaint, the youth was arrested.

Vijay married the woman police official in 2023. He successfully tricked her into believing that he had passed the UPSC exams and was waiting for further procedure. The woman, falling for his words believed that her husband would soon land up in a lucrative job.

However recently, the woman confronted Vijay after she felt dubious about his UPSC status. She asked for documents from him which he failed to produce. This forced Vijay to adopt his rogue side as he threatened her with death if the news spread out.

The woman later gathered the courage to complain about the incident to the police. According to police, the culprit has earlier abused his wife both mentally and physically. The police told the media that a case has been registered against Vijay on charges of fraud, forgery and domestic violence.
