KASARAGOD: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that a scientific approach based on humanity should be propagated. Inaugurating the 36th Science Congress at Kasaragod Govt College, he said that competition and monopolization in the field of science emphasize only profit and it should change.

In today's era of widespread intellectual property rights and patents, such knowledge cannot be relied upon to advance. Indigenous knowledge production is also needed. 3,500 crore has been earmarked for special research and development in the state budget. Knowledge from research should be converted into products and services that benefit the public. The government has set up translational research labs in 10 universities with an investment of 200 crores.

30 centers are being set up in the state to raise research to international standards. He also stated that the "Scholar in Residence'' project is also being implemented with the participation of Nobel winners.

The Chief Minister released the Climate Statement 2023 prepared by ICCS. Dr Soumya Swaminathan presented the topic. KP Sudhip presided. Rajmohan Unnithan MP delivered the keynote address. 2022 Chemistry Nobel Laureate Morten P. Meldal was the Chief Guest. NA Nellikunnu MLA and Dr P Manoj, Principal of Kasaragod Govt College were the special guests. District Collector K Inbasekar, Dr VS Anil Kumar and Anantha Padmanabhan spoke. Dr. Pradeep Kumar gave the welcome speech and Dr. Manoj Samuel gave the vote of thanks.
