MANANTHAVADY: It has been decided to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family of Ajeesh, who was killed in a wild elephant attack in Wayanad. It was also decided in the meeting led by the district collector to give a permanent job to Ajeesh's wife. The compensation will be handed over to Ajeesh's family on Monday.

The family demanded Rs 50 lakh as compensation. It has been decided to make a recommendation to the government regarding the transfer of 40 lakhs. Forest Minister AK Saseendran announced that the government will bear the higher education expenses of Ajeesh's children. Favorable consideration will be given at the government level for the family's debt write-off.

Meanwhile, the forest department has ordered the capture of the wild elephant through tranquilization. The forest department ordered the tranquilizer firing after the locals protested with the dead body of the dead farmer. The order said that after drugging the elephant, it should be sent back to the forest using Kumki elephants.

At 7:30 this morning, Ajeesh, a farmer and a driver, was stomped to death by a wild elephant in his backyard. On seeing the elephant, Ajeesh ran to a nearby house, but the elephant came after him and kicked him to death. The occupants of the house escaped unhurt.
