NEW DELHI: 17th Lok Sabha concluded its final session marked by significant events including the transition to a new building, government-opposition clashes and crucial legislative actions. Ram Temple issue, dominated discussions in both houses with the central government pushing through a resolution despite opposition boycotts, except from the Congress.

BJP MP Satyapal Singh introduced a resolution praising the construction of the Ram Temple in the Lok Sabha leading to a four-hour debate before Speaker Om Birla declared it a historical achievement.

Congress, despite initially abstaining joined the discussion referencing controversies like the blocking of Rahul Gandhi's temple visit in Assam. Tensions escalated when BJP MP Nishikant Dubey remarked that non-Hindus couldn't visit the temple, akin to Mecca for Muslims sparking heated exchanges and a Congress walkout.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah hailed the Ram Temple's inauguration as historic predicting the BJP's return to power under Prime Minister Modi's leadership for a third term. The Rajya Sabha also deliberated on the issue.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded the session highlighting the transformative five years citing critical bills passed, including the repeal of Section 370, abolishment of triple talaq, women's reservation and significant legislative reforms.

The session saw the passage of 222 bills in five years despite disruptions totaling 387 lost hours due to protests and noise.
