NEW DELHI: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath is rumoured to join the BJP. After the trouncing in the MP elections, AICC did some revamp within the state leadership which might have triggered Nath, a former close confidante of late PM Rajiv Gandhi.

As part of this revamp, Kama Nath was made to relinquish all his leadership duties. This is considered as the mainspring for Kamal Nath to ponder a move towards rival BJP.

Some days ago, Kamal Nath reached Delhi and met Sonia Gandhi and forwarded the demand for Rajya Sabha seat. It is reported that former Chief Minister Kamal Nath is not interested in continuing as an MLA in the state. Meanwhile, some sources report that Congress has rejected Nath’s demand for Rajya Sabha seat.

BJP, mindful of the sudden discord within Congress tried fishing in troubled waters and has offered Rajya Sabha seats to Kamal Nath and his son. It is reported that along with Kamal Nath, his son Nakul Nath and Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha will also join the BJP. Congress has also started works to allay tensions within the camp.

However, when the Bharat Nyay Yatra reaches Madhya Pradesh on March 3, the BJP plans to announce Kamal Nath as their party member. Even before the elections, there were reports about Kamal Nath joining BJP.
