The tiger was found during the inspection conducted by the forest department officials but could not be captured.
There was tiger presence in the area in the past few days as well. The tiger came again when the forest department was monitoring the area by installing cameras and cages. Officials said that people should be cautious and forest guards are camping at the spot.
Attacks by wild animals are rampant in the district. Parents do not even dare to let their children out of their homes. A holiday was declared on Monday for Educational institutions in Thirunelli and Mananthavadi.
Thalassery Archdiocese Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany said the government has an inhuman attitude towards the farmers. He was responding pointing the wildlife attacks in Wayanad. There were major lapses from the side of the government. The forest department is a complete failure in the state, alleged Pamplany.
The elephant reaching Wayanad was not informed. The forest officials did not issue a warning. The forest officials are deliberately supporting homicide. Pamplany demanded to register a case against the officials. Announcing a compensation of Rs 10 lakh after death is shameful. We don't want money, should allow to live. No government can move forward without addressing the farmers’ issues. They are enraged. None of their demands have been executed. The archbishop said that elections are a platform for people to express their protest in democracy.
