KALPETTA: The visuals obtained from aerial view ascertain that there is another mozha elephant (without a tusker) accompanying the rogue Belur Makhna, that killed a farmer in Wayanad on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the forest officials failed to tranquillize the rogue elephant on the third day of their mission. On Tuesday morning, the forest officials came also to the elephant which roamed near the Kattikkulam iron bridge area but all moves to tranquillize didn't yield any results. According to officials, the decision to dart was halted after the officials feared that the elephant might create a ruckus in the neighbouring human habitat if shot with the tranquillizer dart.
Meanwhile, the locals stopped the forest team and confronted them for their failure to not tranquillize the giant. On Monday, ‘Belur Makhna’ appeared two times before the forest team. At 10:30 am, the elephant stood barely 100 m away from the forest team. One dart was fired but it missed the target.
‘Belur Makhna’ first appeared in the Padamala region on Friday where it destroyed crops including banana and tapioca.
