KOCHI: In a petition filed by Former Minister Dr Thomas Isaac challenging ED summons, Justice Devan Ramachandran assured that if Isaac appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED), there would be no harassment during interrogation in the Masala bond case. The motion to extend the summons was denied.
Investigation team stated the summons aimed to gather evidence after concluding a FEMA violation. The petition was transferred to the 16th hearing of a petition filed by KIIFB. Isaac sought to extend the time limit of the summons until then. Despite supposed appearance, Isaac did not turn up. He argues ED lacks authority on FEMA violations. The High Court questioned his absence despite four summonses. Supreme Court lawyer Jaydeep Gupta, representing Isaac, emphasized the decision on masala bonds wasn't personal and company records should be examined.
