THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The committee comprising Chief Minister, Speaker and Leader of Opposition has decided to recommend to the Governor for the reappointment of K Baijunath, State Human Rights Commission Acting Chairperson and Judicial Member. The three-year term of K Baijunath, who became a Human Rights Commission judicial member in 2021 when he was Kalpatta District and Sessions Judge, will end on March 2. Baijunath was appointed by the governor as the acting chairperson after Justice Antony Dominic retired from the commission's post last May. Another member is VK Binakumari.
The position of the Commission member is equivalent to that of a High Court Judge. A native of Kozhikode, K Baijunath became a lawyer in 1987. Magistrate in 1992 and then District Judge. He was the State President of the Kerala Judicial Officers Association. He is the son of the late K Ramdas and Radha Panoli of Kozhikode Kutrivattam Sabari Theertha. Wife UK Deepa. Children: Arun K.
