ALUVA: A seven-year-old boy, Nishikanth was severely injured after falling from his father's autorickshaw and hit by a car. The driver, Shan (42) and the car owner, Ranjini Satheesan (48) have been arrested by the Aluva police.
Nishikanth, a second-grade student at Nochima Saraswati Vidyaniketan School was accompanied by his sister Niranjana in the autorickshaw. Despite Niranjana being asleep, it remains unclear how Nishikanth fell onto the road.
Upon the child's fall, his father Prajith promptly stopped and rushed him to Rajagiri Hospital where Nishikanth is currently on a ventilator.
Investigation revealed CCTV footage from a nearby shop confirming that the car driven by Shan ran over Nishikanth shortly after he fell. The accused claim they were unaware of the incident.
Prajith, formerly a lorry driver from Marampilly had recently taken up driving an autorickshaw in Vazhakkulam. The accident occurred while Prajith was returning from an Aluva hospital with his children, after seeking treatment for dust allergy.
